In Anaheim, the visiting St Louis Blues’ Zach Sanford struck for two goals in a 5-4 win over the Ducks on Monday night.
“I think I’ve been a lot better with the details,” Sanford said. “That’s where my game starts, and I think everything has gone a step up the last few games.”
Ville Husso made 29 saves for the win.
Isac Lundestrom picked up his first NHL hat trick for the Ducks in the loss.
Anaheim dropped to 6-11-5 with the loss, their seventh straight, 0-5-2.
“We played great hockey in the third period and we’ve just got to keep doing that for 60 minutes,” Lundestrom said. “I mean, we’ve got to keep the puck with the team and get some shots on the net and crash the net a little bit more.”
Ryan Getzlaf scored with 60 seconds left in the game for the final marker of the night.
Jordan Kyrou and David Perron had single markers for the Blues.
“We’re staying with pucks,” Perron said. “We did have meetings to talk about that on both sides of the puck, critical areas of the ice that we can get to more and score.
Critical areas that we have to cover, so we give less Grade A scoring chances against.”
Dakota Joshua scored for the Blues in his first NHL match.
“I was just driving hard to the net and I got a nice greasy one for the first one,” Joshua said. “It was a great moment.”
John Gibson made 30 saves in the loss.
