The Ducks have been listless on offense most of the season.
Well, really, make that all season.
On Friday night, in Anaheim, the Ducks broke open their offense with a 8-2 thrashing of the visiting Montreal Canadiens.
John Gibson made 35 saves to give the offense room to pressure the offensive zone.
Gibson out dueled Carey Price who was expected to set a Montreal record for wins against the lowly Ducks.
“They saved him for tonight, so we took that as a challenge,” Adam Henrique said. “You never want to be the team that somebody thinks they can come into your building and win.”
Henrique had two strikes in the win.
“The biggest thing is everyone believes in each other inside the room,” Ducks assistant coach Mark Morrison said. “We’re starting to have fun and move the puck well. They’re playing for each other.”
Shea Weber and Paul Byron scored for the Habs.
“It’s going to sting for a little bit here,” Weber said. “We’re fortunate we have some time to digest it and get a little work in before Tuesday (at home against the Detroit Red Wings) because that was obviously not good enough.”
Troy Terry, Devin Shore, Corey Perry, Max Jones, Daniel Sprong, and Rickard Rakell also scored for Anaheim.
“Getting some bounces now that I might not have gotten earlier in the season. I’m playing with a lot more confidence now. It’s nice to have some go your way,” Terry said.

Price made 21 saves in the loss.
“Tonight was one of those nights where we dug ourselves a hole and, again, we didn’t seem to be on our game. A lot of things didn’t pan out tonight for us because of our play,” Habs head coach Claude Julien said after the loss.
