Ducks down Carolina, 4-2

In Raleigh Thursday night, the Anaheim Ducks rode the effort of Jakob Silfverberg who collected two goals and two assists in a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Silfverberg’s linemates rounded out the offense for the Ducks as Ryan Kesler scored twice and Andrew Cogliano had two assists in the win.Anaheim Ducks

“We use that line quite a bit – Silfverberg, Kesler and Cogliano,” Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said. “They’re depended on to not only check but to provide offense. We think they’re one of the top checking lines in the League, but they still can make a contribution on offensive side of it.”

Jonathan Bernier made 27 saves for the win for the Ducks who are 3-0-1 in their four games.

“We’re finding ways to scratch points out. That’s the most important thing. We knew this was a young and energetic hockey club. They were going to force you to skate and they did that. You don’t come in here and think it’s going to be an easy one, that’s for sure,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said

Teuvo Teravainen and Victor Rask  scored for the Canes who have lost three straight and fell to 3-6-4.

For Carolina, it was another game and another big hole from which to dig themselves out but again could not get over the hump.

“The three-goal lead is a big lead. We have seen them a lot at the beginning of the season, and they aren’t going away any time soon. Those are the mistakes that end up hurting you,” Carolina head coach Bill Peters said.

Cam Ward took the loss on 23 saves.
