Ducks double up Blackhawks, 4-2 Ducks have won three straight

In Anaheim, Lukas Dostal made 24 saves for the Ducks as Anaheim ended the Chicago Blackhawks’ five-game winning streak on Monday night.The Ducks moved to 20-34-7.

Tyler John scored in the first period to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead on a power play goal.

The Ducks replied with two goal in the opening frame.

Isac Lundestrom tied it 1-1 at 13:18, and Jakob Silfverberg hit off the power play to give the Ducks the 2- lead.

“Not the start we wanted, took way too many penalties and, obviously, they got one on the power play, so kind of got caught on our back foot,” Silfverberg said. “But big goal by [Lundestrom], big shot, so it kind of got us going. And then, obviously, we got a few power plays.”

Silfverberg scored with 46 seconds left in the period.

Chicago tied the game, 2-2, at 13:11 of the middle frame on a power play marker from Andreas Athanasiou .

“We’ve got a lot of new players right now, so we’re just going to have to find a new rhythm,” Chicago coach Luke Richardson said. “These guys have been resilient, and tonight they pushed right through until the end.”

Max Jones scored with 16 seconds left in the stanza to send the game to the third period with the Ducks up, 3-2.

“Frank [Vatrano] and [Mason McTavish] made a strong play on the wall there, and an easy pass for [McTavish],” Jones said. “He makes those plays look real easy, and (I) just had to put it in the net.”

The Blackhawks dropped to 21-33-5.

Chicago was 2-for-4 on the power play, and held the Ducks to one goal on five chances with the extra skater.

“I thought we did well on the special teams,” Richardson said.

Anaheim’s Troy Terry scored just ahead of the midway point of the third period for the 4-2 final.

“He’s been great for us all year. He’s definitely a leader,” McTavish said of Terry. “He’s just getting better and better every game. He’s got such a great shot. I’m not surprised he’s scoring now.”

Petr Mrazek made 29 saves in the Chicago loss.
