The Arizona Coyotes and Anaheim Ducks are bringing back updated sweaters and original logos this season as their third jersey for special nights.
Here are two logos and jerseys that elicit more emotion than most others.
Even on the Pro Hockey News team there is a wealth and dearth of commentary related to the Coyote and Duck logos.
Twenty-five years have gone by since the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim took the ice. One Stanley Cup has been lifted in those years and the Ducks have been competitive for much of the 00’s and teens of the 2000’s.
The new third jersey updates the original Mighty Ducks’ theme while tipping the hat to the original.
The logo will sit on a similar patterned sweater as the 1993 edition.
Just east of Anaheim off the interstate in the Phoenix metroplex, the Coyotes announced they are returning their own original logo for their anniversary.
Independent of an anniversary, the Coyotes announced that they were reviving their third jersey, using the original Coyote logo from 1996.
Here’s a theme and logo that has caused much discussion on the PHN Podcast (@PHN_PODCAST) with very little middle ground.
Of the four primary casters, only one (this writer), has any positive feelings toward this jersey.
It as always evoked Pablo Picasso in seeing the Coyote on the sweater. The peyote Coyote has been a original and that the organization owns the logo and is pushing it out there again this season is a welcome by one podcaster here.
It is neither dull nor staid.
