Ducks blow 2-0 lead, lose 3-2, to Chicago

At some point, NHL that take early 2-0 leads in games, might want to say, ‘Nah, that’s OK, we’ll wait’

On Saturday night the Ducks took a 2-0 lead on the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.

Troy Terry and  Adam Henrique scored in the first period to give Anaheim the early lead.

From there, the Blackhawks chipped away with a goal in each frame to take a 3-2 win.

Jarred Tinordi‘s second strike of the game came late in the third period to snap a 2-2 tie and send the Hawks to the win.

“Last year I had a lucky bounce like that in this building, too,” Tinordi said. “Maybe it’s the building that’s giving me some good vibes out there.”

Arvid Soderblom made 39 saves in the Chicago win.

“This one hurts more than some of the others just because we did play such a good game,” Terry said. “The sad thing is it’s just the way that this game goes sometimes.”

Chicago improved to 6-5-3.

“We had a slow start to the game, it wasn’t really going our way,” Tinordi said. “Max [Domi] made a great pass on the first one.”

Chicago’s Filip Roos hit for his first career NHL goal.

“I was really happy for him,” Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said. “After the first period he started skating the puck, he started moving his feet, and that’s what he does best.”

Anaheim dropped to 4-10-1.

“It’s been a pretty crazy couple of days,” Henrique said. “It’s certainly nice. You’re thinking about it and trying to get one, and that was very special for me, for the family, for everybody.”

Anthony Stolarz made 19 saves in the Ducks loss.

“What we’ve been preaching all year I thought we did tonight,” Terry said. “When they’re not bouncing our way, it’s hard to not get discouraged, but there are a lot of things that were really positive about tonight.”
