In Anaheim, the Ducks were roasted by the New Jersey Devils, 6-2 on Friday night.
Vitek Vanecek made 31 saves in the New Jersey win.
“It’s hard to win games consistently on the road,” Devils coach Lindy Ruff said. “It’s something you’ve got to put in your pocket and know that your team has found a lot of different ways to win games.”
Adam Henrique and Trevor Zegras scored for Anaheim who were never in the game, trailing,4 -0 at one point in the second period.
“It’s really easy to hang your head and feel sorry for yourself, but this is not a league where anyone cares,” Anaheim forward Ryan Strome said. “Right now, it just feels like everything we are doing is just going against us.”
The Ducks dropped to 12-27-4.
“[Fowler] tried to knock the puck down, that was the right play, it just bounced the wrong way and they end up with a little mini-breakaway,” Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said.
Jack Hughes scored twice for New Jersey in the win.
Dougie Hamilton and Jesper Bratt scored for New Jersey in the first period to give them a 2-0 lead.
Hughes scored his second for a 3-0 lead, and Bratt completed his double for a 4-0 advantage.
“I got some good advice from a guy that scored a lot of goals, so I better listen,” Bratt said.
Jesper Boqvist made 5-1 in the third period before Zegras picked up a lip stick goal for a 5-2 score.
John Gibson made 33 saves in another unsupported effort from defense.
