Duchene, Avs overwhelm Flyers, 4-0 Flyers have one win in last eight

PHILADELPHIA – On Tuesday night, the Colorado Avalanche, a team in search of momentum, hung a 4-0 loss on the Flyers; Matt Duchene scored twice to lead the Avs.

Duchene was on a line with Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon and they clicked all night long.2015-11-10 NHL COL vs PHI Goalie Reto Berra (#20)

“They were dominant,” Avs coach Patrick Roy said. “Every shift they were there. They had a lot of scoring chances. That was the reason we put them together — I like the speed of the three of them together. I felt it was tough to play against them.”

Reto Berra made 25 saves in the win.

“He’s No. 1 because he is playing,” Roy said of Berra. “If [Semyon] Varlamov plays the next game, he’ll be our No. 1 goalie. Right now, we’re very lucky to have two very good goaltenders, and they’re both building up our confidence right now. Reto is playing well right now and is probably going to play the next game in Boston.”

This was a game the Flyers were running around the ice.

“I thought we dominated from the start to the end,” Roy said. “We managed our game well. We kept our shifts short. We possessed the puck. I was very pleased with our performance.”

Jarome Iginla and Cody McLeod added goals for Colorado.

“I thought we were a lot better on the puck possession,” Iginla said. “It felt good. It was a good road game. Once we got up, we didn’t want to open it up or let them get some ice, we just played really strong.”_C6H0009-3

The Flyers are now 1-5-2 in their last eight games.

“We should be ready to come back to our building and play a good game,” Flyers captain Claude Giroux said. “Our goalie played a good game. He gave us a chance to come back, and we didn’t respond.”

Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves for the Flyers in the loss.
