Drummondville rally for victory over Quebec Aube’s two goals lead Voltigeurs to win

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Trailing by one (2-1) after forty minutes of play Drummondville scores four times in the third period for a 5-2 win against Quebec. Frederic Aube, with two goals in the third, played a key role in the home team victory.

In a first period where the first shot of the game came at 14:07 by Drummondville, Drummondville Voltiguers logoQuebec was the team that opened the scoring. Playing his second game with the team defenseman Ross MacDougall scores his first goal in the QMJHL. His shot deflected on Drummondville defenseman before he beat Voltigeurs goaltender Joe Flechler to his right side at 10:04.

The Voltigeurs got three chances to play with a man advantage but was unable to even the score.

In the second period, each team gets on board. Quebec added a second goal to their leads when Anthony Duclair beat Drummondville netminder with a backhanded shot to Flechler left side at 3:51.

Being 0-in-1 with a man advantage Quebec thought to have another great chance to add to their lead but instead it was Drummondville reducing the  lead in half with their first goal of the night.

Taking his own rebound following great pass from teammates Christophe Lalancette Julien Avon beat Quebec goaltender Zachary Fucale to his right side less than five minutes of Quebec second goals.

Drummondville got two more opportunities with a man advantage without been able to score ending 0-in-4 after two periods of play.

Trailing by one and beginning the third with man advantage Drummondville brought both teams back to square one with their second goals of the game with only 29 seconds gone into the period.

Voltigeurs defenseman Frederic Aube scores first of two goals in third period. Voltigeurs defenseman took his own rebound to beat Quebec goalie to his left side with a wrist shot with only one second left to Quebec Adam Erne penalty for delay of game at the end of middle frame.

Aube came back 6:04 later giving his team the lead for first time in the game as his shot from the blue line been deflected on Quebec player before beating Fucale between the pads.

Trailing for the first time in the game Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher decided to put all his eggs in same basket pulling his starting netminder to run the chance to tie the game.

Unfortunately for Quebec head coach Boucher things didn’t turn the way he hoped for as Drummondville scored twice in the empty net with goals from Sergei Boikov and former Remparts veteran center Adam Chapman at 19:05 and 19:54 leading to a 5-2 wins.

Quebec will return in action this Saturday hosting Victoriaville Tigres beginning a four games home stretch after completing two games out of their own building.

No other games were on QMJHL schedule for Tuesday night
