The prowlers came into the game with the mindset to prevent the dragons from getting the clean sweep.  The defense and offense for both teams were preventing a lot of potential goals from being made.  It should on the scoreboard through the first half of the period being tied at zero.

The dragons were the first to find the back of the net at 14:24 into the first period with the credit going to Kelly.  At the 17:48 mark, the dragons and prowlers got into a scuffle which resulted in the dragons having two guys in the box.  This gave the prowlers a 5-3-man advantage for the next two minutes.  The prowlers took that opportunity to get the puck past the dragon goaltender with Vartiainen getting one in at 19:33. The prowlers would keep a man advantage for the next 16 seconds.  Pietrantonio would get the puck near the bottom of their own circles and toss the puck in the air to clear it out.  The puck would bounce and make its way into the prowlers’ net.  This shorthanded goal would give the dragons a 2-1 lead with 20 seconds left in the first period.

The first five minutes of the second period was a back and forth between the teams.  The dragons would strike again with Wickline hitting a rebound 5:16 into the period.  The dragons found the back of the net again at 7:17 mark with Storjohann squeaking one past the line.  The prowlers would reply with a shorthanded goal of their own at the 11:36 mark with a break away sprint by Chartrand.  Dragons would score a shorthanded goal with Daae finding the net at the 16:01 mark.   The dragons would have a 5-2 lead heading into the third period.

The third period would start off different than the two periods before with the dragons’ Daae scoring a goal at 1:50 mark.  The prowlers would take a little bit of time, but they found the net again with Freeborn shooting one in at 6:21 into the period.  The dragons would respond to the goal from the prowlers with another goal of their own during a powerplay.  Fregeau would squeeze one through traffic into the net with 8:46 remaining in the game.  Just to ensure the game was secured, Heitzner would score another goal at the 15:36 mark for the third period.

That final goal would secure the win and the sweep of the weekend for the dragons.  The next two weeks are going to be tough matches for the dragons as they are traveling up north to battle against the Empire division leaders, the Danbury Hat Tricks.  The following weekend, they will be in Winston-Salem taking on their division rivals, the Carolina Thunderbirds.
