Dragons and Rockers Battle in Playoffs

Columbus, GA – This is the second game in the series for these two teams. On Wednesday, the river dragons traveled up to Michigan to take on the rockers on their home ice. The river dragons walked away with a 2-1 victory over the rockers. This game is an important game for the rockers to keep their season alive, but it is also as important for the river dragons to finish the series.

The first period started slow with each team having their own opportunities in the offensive zone. The river dragons would find the back of the net first with Storjohann getting a goal at the 7:41 mark. They would step on the gas and not let up the rest of the period. Storjohann would score a second goal at the 9:59 mark. This puts Storjohann on hat trick alert for the game. A shorthanded goal would be made with Labelle knocking the puck in the net at the 12:30 mark. The rockers couldn’t contain the goals as Kelly scores on a breakaway at the 13:39 mark. The river dragons weren’t done there as Pietrantonio would get a breakaway goal at the 15:00 mark. This is how the period would end with the river dragons have a 5-0 lead.

The rockers would need to find some momentum to slow down the river dragons. The second period would be slightly different paced. Each team would have good offensive attempts to score, but neither team would capitalize. The second period would see the same score at the first period.

With the rockers seeming to slow down the river dragons during the second period, the question is would they do the same for the third period. The rockers would make some momentum with Suffredini slapping one in at the 1:29 mark. The period would remain quiet for more than have the period. There were some minor penalties that neither team would be able to score. The river dragons would add another goal with Storjohann scoring his hat trick goal at the 14:24 mark. The river dragons would a score a power play goal with Aldworth scoring at the 17:42 mark. The rockers wouldn’t go give up as Lambdin scoring at the 18:48 mark.

The final for the game would be the river dragons with seven over the rockers with two. This would complete with playoff series with the river dragons winning two out of three. Unfortunately, this ends the rockers season, but they are a tough team with a future in the league.

The river dragons advance to the division championship. They will play the winner between Carolina Thunderbirds and Port Huron Prowlers. This will be decided over this weekend.

The third star of the game is Labelle.

The second star of the game is Fregeau.

The first star of the game is Storjohann.
