Dragons and Bears have Overtime Thriller

Columbus, GA – With the second matchup between two of the top four teams in the league, this match would prove to be a nail-bitter for the fans. Black bears are looking to snap their five-game losing streak while the dragons look to remain the top team in the league. The game didn’t have the drama and issues from the previous night, but don’t let the non-game issues make you think the game was lacking thrills.

The first period would have plenty of offense and defense for both teams as they were looking at taking the victory for the night. The black bears would be the first team to claw their way onto the scoreboard at the 12:46 mark in the first period with Parker squeaking one into the goal. That would be the only time the puck would find the net behind the goal in the period.

The black bears would extend their lead early in the second period with Thompson hitting in a rebound at the 3:46 mark. Dragons would respond with a goal of their own with Pietrantonio scoring a powerplay goal at the 7:21 mark. Dragons would tie up the game with Labelle shooting one in at the 11:37 mark. The period would end in a tied-up score at two.

The dragons would take the lead at 4:52 mark with Wickline knocking one in the net. The black bears would tie it up with Thompson scoring off a rebound at the 10:16 mark. The teams would have plenty of attempts along with huge saves by both goalies, but regulation would end in a three-on-three tie.

Overtime would start with the teams passing it back and forth to test each other. The black bears would make the game winning goal at the 1:37 mark with Schultz slapping one in off the bar into the net.

The third star of the game went to Wickline from the dragons.
