Dominating victory by Gatineau over Quebec Trenin with three points gets the first star

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Winners of their last two games, Gatineau was able to add a third consecutive one dominating Quebec 6-1 on Friday night in old Robert Guertin Arena. Yakov Trenin with one goal and two assists Vitalii Abramov with one goal and one assist Alex Dostie one goal one assist and Tristen Ellie also with a goal and one assist led Gatineau to their 36th victory of regular season. Olympiques goaltender Mark Granetbauer has been solid making 20 saves on Quebec 21 shots on goal.

Gatineau Olympiques logoGatineau opened the scoring on their 13 shots on goal, o great individual effort by Vitalii Abramov. The Russian right winger shot beat Quebec goaltender Evgeny Kiselev on his right side at 16:11.

Been beaten on Gatineau 13th shots, Remparts netminder made key save as Kiselev stop Alexandre Dosti on breakaway couple minutes after Gatineau first goal.

Gatineau added a second goal to their lead as the other Russian Gatineau forwards score home team second goal. Olympiques center Yakov Trenin his 21st of the season with 3:49 to play in the opening period.

Playing four-on-four following minor penalties on each side Gatineau takes three goal leads following a tic-tac-toe play. Alexandre Dosti scores his 18th of the season completing efforts of teammates Alexandre Carrier and Yakov Trenin with six seconds remaining to the first period.

Gatineau dominated 21-5 in shots on goal but both teams were 0-in-2 with man advantage.

Opening the second period playing five-on-four for the third time in the game Quebec took advantage of it breaking the ice on their turn with their first goal. The shot from defenseman Ross McDougall was redirect by center Derek Gentile beating Olympiques goaltender Mark Grametbauer 2:20 into the middle frame.

Gatineau regained their three-goal lead on Yan Pavel Laplante 29th of the year. Making first save on Olympiques left winger Tristen Ellie first shot, Quebec goalie has been beaten over his left shoulder on former Victoriaville forward Laplante who had been traded against Pascal Laberge. Laplante goal came at 10:59.

Trying to turn things around for his team Quebec left winger Yanick Turcotte engaged in a furious fight against Jonathon Master. While Turcotte had a slight advantage against his opponent Gatineau replied with their fifth goal on their third power play opportunity.

Tristen Ellie scored his fifth of the regular season at 14:58 Carrier and Dosti got the assists.

Gatineau came back in third period adding one more goal, this one by Samuel Tremblay who beat Kiselev over his right shoulder at 8:17 following great works by Masters behind the net.

Quebec will end their weekend making their last stop in Sherbrooke visiting the Phoenix.
