Devils rally for 5-4 shootout win over Flyers

PHILADELPHIA – The New Jersey Devils’ Taylor Hall scored with less than two minutes left in regulation Tuesday to force extra time with the Flyers and rally the Devils to a 5-4 win over the Flyers.

It was Hall’s second goal of the game and came after missing much of the middle frame with an injury.

“That’s how we want to play, we want to play until the very end,” Hall said. “Lately, things haven’t been going our way, it seems like. We haven’t gotten the bounces we wanted to. Got to fight through that during your season, and tonight was a good example of that.”

The Devils rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the second period.

Nico Hischier and John Moore also scored for the Devils in regulation.

“At the end of the day, especially this time of year, and I’ve never really been through a playoff race, you want to contribute to wins. That’s what I’m looking forward to here,” Hall said after the win.

Keith Kinkaid made 31 saves to pick up the win.

Travis Konecny, Claude Giroux, Scott Laughton, and  Radko Gudas scored for the Flyers.

The loss dropped Philadelphia to 28-19-10.

Drew Stafford had the only goal in the skills competition for the game-winner.

Michal Neuvirth made 32 saves in the loss.

“You give up the tying goal in the last minute, minute and a half of a hockey game, we’re not happy with that, but the effort was good. Certainly, there were times in the game where we didn’t execute quite as well as I’d like to see, but in terms of effort and work ethic was pretty good.” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said after the loss.
