Devils end skid with 6-2 win over Flyers

The New Jersey Devils were mired in a 10-game schneid entering their game Thursday with the Philadelphia Flyers in Newark.

Adam Henrique had two goals in win over Flyers

They left the match with a 6-2 thumping of the Flyers and a bit of relief.

Taylor Hall and Adam Henrique  each struck twice for goals in the win.

“Sometimes there’s just those matchups, and games against the Flyers is one of them for us,” Henrique said. “Maybe we could have played them a few times in this stretch. I don’t know if it’s anything specific, but every time we play them, we play a solid game, start to finish.”

Keith Kinkaid made 17 saves to get the win as the Devils improved to 26-31-12.

Kyle Palmieri and Joseph Blandisi also scored for New Jersey.

The Flyers got goals from Michael Del Zotto and Brayden Schenn.

“We didn’t skate. I don’t know if we were tired. Pittsburgh wasn’t as physical a game [on Wednesday],” Jakub Voracek said after the loss. “I thought we would be a little more fresh but I think we were just slower than them on every puck. They had a good forecheck and we just made too many mistakes.”

Steve Mason got the start but left the game with cramping early in the third period.

“We didn’t win enough of the races, enough of the battles,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said. “That’s the bottom line.”

Michal Neuvirth relieved Mason and gave up one goal on five shots.

“We gave up that fourth goal; that’s one we can’t give up,” Hakstol said. “I won’t get into the particulars on it, but that put us in a pretty deep hole and we weren’t able to generate a whole lot. We had a couple of scoring chances but no real push once we got down by two.”
