SAN JOSE, Calif – The San Antonio Rampage (4-7-0-0) split a two-game series against the San Jose Barracuda (3-2-0-1) this weekend after a 3-1 loss on Sunday at the SAP Center. Rampage forward Mike Sislo collected his third goal and
first power-play goal of the year off of an assist from Joe Whitney and Matt Lashoff.
Whitney begins his first point streak of the season after collecting two goals and an assist over the last two days in San Antonio’s series at San Jose. Despite the loss, the Rampage held San Jose to just 16 shots on the night, a season best for San Antonio and just one shy of the franchise record.
The Barracuda scored the first period’s lone goal on the power play, when Kevin Labanc scored with 11:00 remaining in the first. San Jose struck again halfway through the second stanza, when Rourke Chartier netted a pass with 8:04 to go in the period.
San Antonio capitalized on a 28-second 5-to-3-man advantage in the third period, when Sislo found the back of the net on a pass from Whitney for his third goal of the year with 7:02 left in the stanza.
In a last-chance attempt to tie up the game, the Rampage pulled goaltender Nathan Lieuwen with two minutes left to play. The Barracuda took advantage of a San Antonio turnover, however, notching an empty-net goal by Daniel O’Regan with 90 seconds remaining in the game to solidify a San Jose victory.
