In San Jose Saturday, Aaron Dell made 41 saves, a career high, in a 5-0 trashing of the Vancouver Canucks by the Sharks.
“I feel like I get better every game and I’ve tried to get better in practice every day too,” Dell said.
The Sharks got two goals each from Logan Couture and Chris Tierney and Tomas Hertl added a single marker in the win.
“We need scoring by committee,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said. “He’s one of those guys. Tierney got a couple tonight, and Couture’s been consistent all year. That’s how we’re going to win. I thought Tomas Hertl‘s been playing some really good hockey.”
The Canucks dropped to 8-7-2 with their third loss in four games.
“We played a solid game,” Canucks defenseman Derrick Pouliot said. “We had a lot of shots, a lot of chances, some really good rebound chances. Their goalie played well. We didn’t deserve to be shut out, but that’s how it goes sometimes. You run into a hot goalie.”
The Sharks’ win was a bounce back effort after the stinker earlier in the week when they dropped a 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“I think it was a big bounce-back for the team after the last game,” Dell said. “I think the one period I got in for that helped prepare [me for] this one.”
San Jose improved to 9-6-0 with the win.
“It’s always nice to contribute and score. It was a goal that I set for myself was to contribute offensively for this team and score goals. It’s a nice start,” Couture said.

Jacob Markstrom made 26 saves in the loss.
“We were disappointed after Anaheim (a 4-1 loss on Thursday). We lost 5-0, but it was a step in the right direction. We played harder and played better together. There were some positives things out there,” the Canucks’ Alexander Edler said.
