In San Jose Friday night, the San Sharks got a 21-save performance from Aaron Dell as they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-0.
“I think I had a pretty easy night tonight,” Dell said. “They didn’t really give up a lot. I
think that was probably the best all-around game we’ve played all year.”
It was the fourth straight win for the Sharks and eighth of nine.
Patrick Marleau scored at 16:29 of the first to provide Dell with all the offense he would need on the night.
The Flyers lost their third straight, something they had not done all season.
“We’ve got to stop this slide immediately,” Philadelphia forward Wayne Simmonds said. “We know this is serious. We’ve got to get back on the good side of games and we have to do it fast.”
The skid comes as many of the Flyers’ immediate competition continue to win, like the Columbus Blue Jacks and Pittsburgh Penguins.
What may not help the Flyers is the loss of Steve Mason who started the game but suffered a hand injury in the fist period. He yielded one goal on 12 shots.Anthony Stolarz relieved him in the second period.
“It’s just a mental approach. You just have to be ready. Any time I get an opportunity I want to go out there and show I can play at this high level,” Stolarz said of coming in as a relief after an injury.

The Sharks suffered an injury as well with Marc-Edouard Vlasic hit in the face with a puck.
“As bad as it looked and as bad as it probably is, I’ve got my fingers crossed,” DeBoer said. “The initial reports are that [they] don’t believe it’s that serious. So that’s good.”
Justin Braun with less than five left in regulation to seal the win.
