Dragons coach Lol Paul is still searching for improvements, despite watching his side go five points clear at the top of the Laidler Conference with victory over Coventry Blaze.
Saturday night’s 7-1 success at Chester Road was Deeside’s seventh consecutive win, as they shape up to fulfill their pre-season promise.

They enter the festive break with all eyes on the club’s first major silverware in over 20 years, after closest challengers Nottingham drew with Hull Jets.
But Paul believes his side can get even better, after they rained in 65 shots on the Coventry goalmouth.
He said: “I don’t think we played as well as we could on Saturday, even though we eventually won 7-1. The first period was 0-0, which shows we still need to come out of the blocks quicker.
“It wasn’t until the second period that we really got going and that has been our achilles heel all season. We have got to dictate the pace of the game from the start.
“A lot of teams are coming to Deeside, and looking to defend. We had nearly 70 shots on goal against Coventry, so to score just seven is not good enough.
“We’ll be skating really hard in training this week, even though we’ve only got the one session before Christmas. I’ll be upping the tempo and putting in a lot of physical battles.”
That goalless opening session was followed by a stellar middle period, as strikes from Alex Parry and Adrian Palak (2) gave Deeside a 3-1 advantage.
The closing 20 minutes was again dominated by the hosts, as Palak (2) and Filip Supa (2) secured victory.
Paul added: “The lads have got their confidence back now, and we’re on a really good winning streak.
“As long as we don’t get cocky, and beat the teams we need to, then there’s no reason why we’re not on track to win some silverware.”
