Dalpe, Wild edge Moose, 3-2

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wild (17-30-3-4, 41 points) defeated the Manitoba Moose (16-28-4-5, 41 points) 3-2 in front of 3,992 fans at Wells Fargo Arena on Monday night. Iowa forward Zac Dalpe scored with 1:58 remaining in the third period, pushing the Wild past the Moose. Dalpe scored twice in his first game at Wells Fargo Arena since opening night on Oct. 10. Iowa forward Brett Bulmer scored the other Wild goal and added an assist for a two-point night. Iowa goalie Leland Irving (9-15-4) made 31 Iowa Wildsaves on 33 shots in the victory. Manitoba goalie Connor Hellebuyck (5-8-1) stopped 32 of 35 shots in the defeat. Moose forwards Patrice Cormier and Chase De Leo scored a goal each in the Manitoba loss. Iowa hosts Manitoba for a rematch on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

Iowa forward Brett Bulmer opened the scoring 11:11 into the first period, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead. Forwards Tyler Graovac and Jared Knight each tallied an assist on the goal. Graovac started the play by flipping the puck into the offensive zone. After dumping the puck down the ice, he created a turnover behind the Moose net. Knight received a centering pass in the slot and one-timed the puck off goalie Connor Hellebuyck’s leg pad. Crashing the net, Bulmer put the rebound into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

Wild forward Zac Dalpe scored at 5:08 of the second period, helping Iowa grab a 2-0 lead. Bulmer and forward Marc Hagel each tallied an assist on the goal. Hagel and Bulmer applied pressure deep in the offensive zone, causing a turnover. Hagel won a battle for the puck in the corner and fed a pass to Dalpe. The forward wristed a shot over Hellebuyck’s glove for his first goal of the season. Moose forward Patrice Cormier scored at 11:17 of the period, cutting the Iowa lead to 2-1. Forward Matt Halischuk and defenseman Josh Morrissey each tallied an assist on the goal. Halischuk picked up the puck at the right circle and fired a low shot off goalie Leland Irving’s leg pad. Cormier corralled the rebound in front of the net, sweeping the puck past Irving for his 10th goal of the season.

Moose center Chase De Leo scored 1:34 into the third period, tying the game 2-2. Forwards Nic Petan and Matt Halischuk each tallied an assist on the goal. De Leo received a pass from Petan and fired a shot from the right circle. The puck found its way through traffic in front of the net and into the goal for De Leo’s 15th goal of the season. Wild forward Zac Dalpe scored his second goal of the night with 1:52 remaining in the third period, giving Iowa a 3-2 lead. Dalpe picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone. Flying into the offensive zone, Dalpe fired a wrist shot from the high slot, beating Hellebuyck high on the glove side for his second goal of the season.
