In Edmonton, Jamie Benn scored a hat trick for the visiting Dallas Stars in a 6-2 thrashing of the Oilers in a Saturday matinee.
Scott Wedgewood made 28 saves in the Stars win.

Benn finished his hat trick in the third with the final two goals of the game to erase an abbreviated Oilers rally attempt.

Joe Pavelski scored in the first period to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

In the middle frame, Leon Draisaitl scored for the Oilers, but Dallas put three on the board to take control of the game, 4-1 after 40 minutes.
Colin Miller scored to make the lead 2-0 for Dallas early in the second.
Draisaitl scored for a 2-1 advantage for the Stars, but Jason Robertson restored the two-goal lead for a 3-1 score.
Edmonton dropped to 7-5-.
Benn started his hat trick performance in the second period off the power play for a 4-1 lead.
Darnell Nurse struck for a goal early in the third period to give some life to the Oilers cause and a 4-2 deficit.
Edmonton had one goal in six chances on the power play.
Benn finished his hat trick and the Oilers chances with a power play goal for a 5-2 lead and then an even strength strike for the 6-2 final.
Jack Campbell made 30 saves in the Oilers loss.
