Dallas ousts Predators in OT

In Dallas, the Stars got a goal from John Klingberg  with just under three minutes left in extra time to send the Stars to the second round of the playoffs and the Nashville Predators home with an earlier than expected exit from the post season.

There was a total of 99 shots on goal for the game and Ben Bishop made 47 saves for the win.

Austin Watson gave the Predators a lead in the first period.

“They did such a good job of defending and tight checking,” Watson said. “They made it hard on us, and full credit to that group over there.”

The Stars now face the St Louis Blues in the second round.

Nashville went scoreless in four power play chances.

“I’m part of the power play, so I take full responsibility for that,” Roman Josi said. “It’s a huge part, and you saw it in the playoffs. Even tonight we had the chances, and if we got a goal there, it’s a different game.”

The last 1:53 of regulation was a power play for the Preds but they were unable to make any push.

Blake Comeau tied the game at 1-1 in the second period.

“Everyone in here obviously wanted a better result,” P.K. Subban said. “Just a tough one, a tough one to swallow.”

Pekka Rinne made 49 saves in the loss.

“There are things I thought we cleaned up from the previous game,” Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said when asked to assess the series, “but you’d have to go game by game to break that whole thing down. In the end, they got it done tonight. We didn’t.”
