In St Louis, the Blues and Dallas Stars ended the first period knotted at 2-2 on Wednesday night.
That was pretty much the highlight of the night for the Blues, as the Stars pitted three goals in the middle frame and coasted to a 5-2 win.
All three goals came off the power play.
Roope Hintz scored the first power play goal at 4:48 of the second for a 3-2 lead to the Stars.
Dallas improved to 46-21-14, and too over the top spot in the Central Division.
Sammy Blais was whistled for a double minor for the Blues leading to the Hintz goal, and Wyatt Johnston‘s second of the match for a 4-2 lead to Dallas.
Scott Wedgewood made 16 saves in the win.
Tyler Seguin scored with 47 seconds left in the middle frame for the 5-2 final in the game.
Johnson opened the scoring in the first period for a 1-0 lad to the Stars.
Jakub Vrana scored off the power play for the Blues to tie it, 1-1, at 7:44.
St Louis, dropped to 37-37-7.
Dallas reclaimed the lead with 56 seconds left in the first on a delayed penalty to the Blues for a 2-1 lead.
St Louis got that goal back with 20 seconds left n the opening stanza on a strike by Ty Dellandrea.
Joel Hofer, who is a call up from the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League, made 32 saves in the loss..
