Dallas edge Red Wings, 3-2

In Dallas, you be forgiven if you thought the Detroit Red Wings were playing a phantom game of hockey.  The Stars were donned in their all white uniforms on Monday night.

Despite the garish look, the Stars defeated the Red Wings, 3-2, after penalties.

“I would have preferred to win in regulation, but we’ll take any kind of win right now,” Stars head coach Rick Bowness said. “We desperately need points.”

Jason Robertson and Denis Gurianov had goals in the skills competition to give the Stars the win.

“This is definitely exciting because we’re down to our last couple games at home, and every point matters,” Robertson said. “We play these guys again three more times, and we have to try to build on what we did in the third period tonight.”

Anton Khudobin made 20 saves to earn the win.

The Stars are 5-0-2 in their last seven.

“Getting this win is honestly a huge relief,” Robertson said. “Everyone in this locker room has been disappointed by the points we’ve left on the table in overtime and especially the shootout.”

Luke Glendening scored both Detroit goals.

“I thought we competed hard against one of the best defensive teams in the League,” Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said. “They are hard to create against, and if you try to force things, they are going to score in transition.”

Roope Hintz had a goal and assist for Dallas.

After Detroit tied the game 1-1, on Glendening’s first goal of the game, Robertson  scored to give the Stars the lead back.

Thomas Greiss made 34 saves in the loss.

“I haven’t gotten many goals this year or last year, so getting two tonight was a nice way to help the team,” Glendening said. “We know we’re going to have three more games like this, and we have to find a way to be a little better.”
