In Los Angeles, the Kings’ season of despair continued with a 2-1 loss to the visiting Dallas Stars.
It was another rally win for the Stars who surrendered the first goal for the fourth straight game.
Anze Kopitar potted his 16th of the season in the first period to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.
“Ideally, we’d like to play with the lead in the first period and score the first goal, but I think it’s a good quality to have as a team that if you get down a goal or two you don’t feel like you’re out of it,” Dallas’ Blake Comeau said.
“We’ve been finding ways to win coming from behind. It’s an important thing for successful teams to be able to do, but also we’d like to get out with the lead and start playing with the first goal.”
Anton Khudobin made 30 saves and shut the Kings down after the first period goal.
“We’re playing really good teams and we’ve got to be able to find a way to get that next goal or be able to hold teams off,” Kings forward Tyler Toffoli said. “It’s definitely frustrating, but we just got to grow as a team here and find ways to win these games.”
The Stars scored twice in the middle frame with goals from Jamie Benn and Comeau just 37 seconds apart.
“We seem to fall behind early, and I wish there was one reason for that happening. We could fix it. It just seems to be one major mistake and it ends up in the back of the net,” Stars head coach Rick Bowness said.

Jonathan Quick made 30 saves in the loss.
“This team just checked the hell out of us, and they’ve done that to a lot of teams,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said. “They just choke everything off.”
