Dadonov signs three-year, $15 million contract with Senators

Evgenii Dadonov signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $5 million.

The 31-year-old forward was an unrestricted free agent. He scored 47 points (25 goals, 22 assists) in 69 games with the Florida Panthers last season and one assist in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.

“We’re thrilled to have come to an agreement with Evgenii,” Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said. “He’s an elite offensive talent and a very consistent scorer as demonstrated by his point totals over the last three seasons. This is a key signing for us as it adds a player who will help us produce offensively and one with a proven track record on the power play.”

Dadonov has scored at least 25 goals in each of the past three seasons and scored an NHL career-high 70 points (28 goals, 42 assists) in 82 games with the Panthers in 2018-19. He scored an NHL career-high 11 power-play goals last season, tied with six players for 11th in the League.

Selected by Florida in the third round (No. 71) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Dadonov played three seasons with the Panthers before playing in the Kontinental Hockey League for five seasons. He signed with the Panthers prior to the 2017-18 season and has 202 points (91 goals, 111 assists) in 280 regular-season games with them.
