Cyclones Summer Update

CINCINNATI , Ohio – In the care of Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber, the Kelly Cup has toured the region. Bringing out the die hard fans of Section 60, and the curious alike to various venues, the Cup is a reminder of the Cyclones accomplishments of the past season.
Weber has become the de facto caretaker of the Cup, bringing it with him far and wide, while having a great time doing the public relations work. On July 24th, the Cyclones Championship was honored by the Florence

Freedom baseball team. Coach Weber was asked to throw out the ceremonial first pitch by the Frontier League Club.
Fans had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the Kelly Cup, and talk with the coach in a relaxed setting. The Cyclones fans have made appearances whenever and wherever Chuck has brought the Cup this summer. Local radio stations have taken advantage of the city’s first championship in eighteen years to pump up the volume on the Cyclones. Local radio personality Dennis “Wildman” Walker, known as the Sports Commando, hosted the Cup at a party held in his drinking establishment soon after the Cyclones brought home the hardware.
A competing station and their “Two Angry Guys”, Tom Gamble and Richard Skinner, hosted Weber and the Cup on two occasions, one from the studio, the other from a sports bar in Northern Kentucky.
There are few player announcements so far this off season. Joe Grimaldi has signed on for the upcoming year. Rumor has it that goalie Dov Grumet-Morris and forward Jason Dietsch will be playing in Europe next season. Most players are waiting to see when the Cyclones will sign Weber to a new contract. Weber has said that the two sides are close to a deal, but he would not elaborate on how close or how long it will take to get a deal done.

Fans are anxious to see the raising of the championships banner by the time the first home game is played on October 25th. Cincinnati will face their arch rivals, the Dayton Bombers, in the teams home opener, and will open the season with three road games beginning on October 17th.
The team will give way to the joy of the banner ceremony. The players will receive their championship rings at US Bank Arena on opening night to kick off the 2008-09 campaign in defense of their title.
