SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Connor Ingram earned his league-leading fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory over the Binghamton Devils tonight at the War Memorial Arena.
Carter Verhaeghe and Mitchell Stephens paced the team with a goal and two assists each, while Alex Barre-Boulet continued his 10-game points streak with a goal and an assist. Cameron Gaunce also registered a multi-point night with two helpers. Syracuse moves to 13-5-2-0 on the season and 5-0 in the 10-game series against Binghamton.
Ingram stopped all 18 shots he faced, while Mackenzie Blackwood turned aside 27-of-32 in net for the Devils. Syracuse went 1-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Crunch opened scoring 7:01 into the game with a power-play tally. After Gaunce ripped a slap shot from the high slot, Barre-Boulet picked up the rebound, wrapped around the cage and slipped the puck past Blackwood on the backhand. Verhaeghe tallied the secondary helper.
Two minutes later, Syracuse doubled their lead. Verhaeghe chased the puck down to the right corner and threw a centering feed for Stephens in the slot. He switched to the backhand and flipped the puck over Blackwood. Gaunce earned his second point of the night with an assist.
Verhaeghe made it 3-0 with his third point of the game 12:37 into the middle stanza. He picked up Stephen’s centering feed in the slot and netted it. The secondary assist went to Barre-Boulet.
With 4:33 remaining in the second period, Syracuse went up by four. Conacher ripped a one-timer from the right circle after coming in on an odd-man rush with Andy Andreoff. Alex Volkov collected a point on the play.
Just 3:04 into the final frame, Syracuse added another. Dennis Yan got a stick on a loose puck and tucked it in past Blackwood short side. Assists went to Stephens and Olivier Archambault.
