SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Connor Ingram stopped all 23 shots to earn his third shutout of the season as the Syracuse Crunch blanked the Utica Comets, 2-0, tonight at the War Mmorial Arena.
The win puts the Crunch on a five-game winning streak and advances the team 41-19-3-4 on the season. Syracuse has also evened the twelve game season series against Utica, 5-5-0-0.
Ingram’s performance in net gave the Crunch their fifth shutout victory of the season. Thatcher Demko stopped 35-of-36 shots between the pipes for the Comets. Syracuse was unable to convert on four power play opportunities, but killed all five Utica man-advantages.
After two scoreless periods, Mitchell Stephens broke the stalemate at the 12:21 mark of the third period. Demko stopped Gabriel Dumont after he fired at a sharp angle from the right wing circle, but left the rebound uncovered in the crease for Stephens to chip in. Dominik Masin earned the secondary assist.
With three seconds remaining in the game, Erik Cernak added an empty-netter with the help of Matthew Peca and Erik Condra.
