Coyotes two-step past collapse

The Arizona Coyotes were on cruise control Saturday and nearly flattened themselves on the painted tunnel on the rocks.

The Coyotes had a 3-0 lead in the third period and then had to hold off the surging Dallas Stars for 3-2 win.

Alex Galchenyuk struck twice for the Coyotes who were wearing the coolest sweaters in the NHL.

“Obviously it always feels good winning, and we know a lot of guys over there,” Goligoski said. “It’s fun beating them. I enjoyed that a lot.”

Darcy Kuemper made 33 saves to get the win.

The Stars struck for two goals just 27 seconds apart to make the final minutes more interesting.

Brett Ritchie and Alexander Radulov scored the rapid fire goals.

“We’re down 3-0, we get that one (by Ritchie) and we still believed [and] said, ‘Let’s go,'” the Stars’  Tyler Seguin said. “We had another couple of looks at it, but too little, too late was kind of the story tonight.”

Dallas dropped to 28-22-5.

Alex Goligoski also scored for Arizona.

“Every game we’ve lost the last three or four, we’ve lost the special teams battle,” Goligoski said. “Obviously we’re aware of it. It’s nice to get the power play going.”

The Coyotes struck twice on the power play.

“We had a (power-play) meeting today and [said], ‘A couple of passes and shoot,’ and whoever did it was going to get on the ice,” Arizona head coach Rick Tocchet said. “The first goal set the table for us, it was right off the draw. We were very decisive and that’s what we needed.”

Anton Khudobin made 36 saves in the loss.

“You have to play 60 minutes, that’s the bottom line,” Radulov said. “It’s not enough to play two periods or 50 minutes, it’s a 60-minute game. We have to understand that, embrace it and be better.”
