In Glendale, the Arizona Coyotes are starting to flex their scoring muscles and add W’s to the scoresheet.
On Saturday night, the Coyotes defeated the visiting Ottawa Senators, 5-2.
“We have a little streak. It’s good. I’m excited about that,” said Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet, whose team has allowed an NHL-low 13 goals in seven games.
Conor Garland and Kyle Capobianco (his first NHL goal) scored for the Coyotes.
“It’s a special day. I’m glad it happened,” Capobianco said. “I know when I get called up I’ve got to play my game and take advantage of the opportunity. You never want to see anybody go down, but I’m just trying to take advantage of any ice time I get.”
Antti Raanta made 34 saves as the Coyotes improved to 4-5-1.
“When you haven’t played in 11 months, it doesn’t really matter what kind of game it is, you’re just happy to be back and playing and enjoying every second,” Raanta said. “We’ve been playing really good hockey, so when you get a chance to play you want to also contribute and to get the wins.”
Chris Tierney and Vladislav Namestnikov scored for the Senators who fell behind 4-0 before getting on the board.
“We knew they were going to come out hard, but we didn’t match their compete level early on and they hemmed us in and they dominated,” Tierney said. “And it ended up being too much to come back from.”
Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Carl Soderberg also scored for Arizona who have six power play markers in the last three games.
“I like the way our team’s been playing all year. We were a little sloppy in the third and we’ve got to be careful. We’ve got to be able to handle prosperity, too. We can’t get too high on ourselves. We’re not that kind of team,” Tocchet said after the game.
Lawson Crouse closed out the scoring with an empty goal.

Craig Anderson made 23 saves in the loss.
“We were playing catch-up hockey, which is tough for a team that doesn’t score a lot,” Senators coach D.J. Smith said. “But the second and third period, I really liked our effort. But you don’t take anything away from Arizona. They don’t give you anything.”
