In Tempe, The Chicago Blackhawks were in their match with the Coyotes for 26 seconds on Monday night.Connor Bedard scored for the Hawks with that many seconds gone in the game to give them a 1-0 lead.

From there, the Coyotes hit for three in the first, and four in the middle frame en route to an 8-1 shellacking of the Blackhawks.

Michael Carcone  scored his first NHL hat trick in the win.

“You could see that game against L.A. left a few scars in the sense of the way we started,” Arizona coach Andre Tourigny said. “We weren’t as confident as we’ve been, but from there we got our game back and had the pace we’re used to having.”

Connor Ingram made 29 saves in the victory.

Two minutes after falling behind, Carcone hit for his first of the night and a 1-1 tie.

Carcone’s second came off the power-play at 15:55 for a 3-1 advantage headed to the second period.

“You have to be able to do it every day,” he said. “It means being on your details, playing in the structure … and that’s been the knock on ‘Carcs’ in the past. But he’s much better now.”

In the middle frame, the Coyotes were free to do as they pleased with four strikes in the frame.

“We got off our game plan,” Chicago coach Luke Richardson said. “But credit to them, I’m sure they were upset about their last game. We’re still maturing as a team, and maybe we were on our back foot from patting ourselves on the back for coming back in the last game.”

Five minutes in Carcone finished off his hat trick for a 4-1 lead.

“The NHL is a hard league,” Carcone said. “It’s not going to happen every night, obviously, and I’m just going to enjoy it, then move on from there because there’s a lot of games left.”

Jack McBain, who had a double and four points on the night, ballooned the lead to 5-1 at 6:38 of the second.

“We got off to a little bit of a slow start to be honest, but then kind of just settled into the game nicely,” McBain said. “There was no panic. We were kind of able to take it over.”

Sean Durzi pushed the lead out to 6-1 at 11:18, and Liam O’Brien  hit at 15:28 for a 7-1 advantage after 40 minutes.

McBain picked up his double midway through the third.

Arvid Soderblom got the start for Chicago, and yielded seven goals, making 15 saves. H He was given the hook in the middle frame.

Petr Mrazek made 10 saves in a mop up role.

“We started off unbelievable and then it’s like, ‘Well, it’s going to come easy to us,’ and as soon as one thing happens bad, it’s compounded with another thing and another thing and another thing,” Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno said. “There’s a right and wrong way to play, and tonight everything that could go wrong did.”
