Coyotes Sign Zucker to One-Year Contract

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA – Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the Coyotes have signed forward Jason Zucker to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jason to our organization,” said Armstrong. “He is a proven goal scorer who is quick, has a great shot, and competes hard. He is also great in the community and will be a valuable addition to our forward group.”

Last season, the 31-year-old Zucker registered 27-21-48 and 47 penalty minutes (PIM) in 78 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, finishing fifth on the team in scoring. His 27 goals and 48 points were both the veteran forward’s second-highest goal and point totals in a season. It was the fifth time in Zucker’s career that he scored 20 goals or more in a season.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward has totaled 182-156-338 and 256 PIM in 628 career NHL games with the Penguins and Minnesota Wild. In 2017-18, he set career highs in goals (33), assists (31) and points (64) with the Wild. Zucker has also recorded 8-7-15 and 10 PIM in 46 career Stanley Cup playoff games.

The Newport Beach, CA native was the recipient of the 2019 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice. In March of 2019, the veteran forward opened the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio which allowed children and families to watch Wild games in a setting that simulates the experience of being at a game. Zucker and his family have raised over $1.3 million since the family started their #GIVE16 campaign in 2017-18 for the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio at the University of Minnesota Masonic Hospital. Zucker was also a finalist for the King Clancy in 2018.

He was originally drafted by the Wild in the second round (59th overall) in the 2010 NHL Draft.
