In Glendale Thursday night, the Arizona Coyotes’ Christian Fischer struck for a goal midway through extra time in a 3-2 win over the visiting Nashville Predators.
The Coyotes needed a late goal from Nick Cousins to force the overtime session on a power play strike..
“We put ourselves in position where we took a penalty and then played a really poor overtime,” Preds head coach Peter Laviolette said. “We didn’t think at all through the overtime, so the ending sticks out.”
Ryan Ellis and Craig Smith scored for the Predators as they dropped to 23-11-6 with the loss.
“We lost to the worst team in the League right now, and that’s obviously not good,” Ryan Johansen said. “There is a lot of things we’ve got to do better. We can definitely use this one moving forward, especially in that game Saturday. It will light a fire under our butts.”
Antti Raanta made 37 saves to pick up the win.
“Nashville is a good team. I think they’re going to be in the [Stanley Cup Final],” Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchetsaid. “We didn’t crumble. It was nice to see that the guys stuck with it.”
Anthony Duclair also scored for the Coyotes who improved to 10-27-5.

Juuse Saros made 22 saves in taking the loss
“Every team is good. There are no easy games in this league.” the Predators’ Roman Josi said after the game.
