The National Hockey League and its Board of Governors announced on New Year’s Eve the finalization of the sale of the Arizona Coyotes to Andrew Barroway.
This was the third attempt by Barroway to purchase an NHL franchise. His first two efforts were the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders. Both negotiation efforts fell short of the final pen to paper event.
Barroway, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School is a hedge fund manager with a significant investment portfolio he manages.
The sale to Barroway was immediate on 31 December with fifty-one percent of the Coyotes’ ownership moving at signing of the sale and approval by the Board of Governors. Barroway becomes the franchise’s majority owner, chairman and governor immediately.
IceArizona transferred the ownership value to Barroway.
