Despite being so far out of any race, the Arizona Coyotes have been playing well of late and won their fourth game in the last five, 5-2, over the Montreal Canadiens.
Clayton Keller struck for a goal and four points in the win.
“Every year I’ve played hockey you go through that and you’ve just got to stick with it,” Keller said. “It takes a game or two and you’re right back.”
Brendan Perlini struck twice in 19 seconds and Tobias Rieder and Josh Archibald added single markers in the win.
“I have scored on the same shift before but I don’t know that I have ever scored within 19 seconds,” Perlini said.
The Habs got goals from Brendan Gallagher and Daniel Carr.
“We’ve been through a lot this year and obviously we haven’t got the results we wanted,” Gallagher said. “These guys aren’t going to give up. We’re going to continue to work for each other.”
Antti Raanta made 34 saves.in picking up the win as the Coyotes improved to 16-32-10.
Montreal dropped to 22-28-7 with the loss.
“On any given night we’re getting production from certain guys, different lines, which is huge, and we’re getting goaltending. You have to have good goaltending to win in this league,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said of his club’s recent success.

Carey Price made 16 saves in taking the loss.
“We’ve just got to find the answer in here. We’ve got to be pros about everything. That’s how we’re going to get through this,” Carr said after the loss.
