Coyotes flatten Blues in 6-1 decision

Change all the head coaches, assistant coaches and general managers you want for have the stomach to do.  In the end, it’s the players who need changing.

That seems to be the case in St Louis, where the Blues are not responding to the firing of Mike Yeo and hiring of Craig Berube.

On Saturday night, the Blues visited the Coyotes in Glendale and left with their tails between their legs with a 6-1 loss.

Six different skaters struck for the Coyotes.

“We wanted to jump out and get a good start, something that’s been lacking. I thought guys were locked in and it was good to see,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. “We had a lot of shots (44) and a lot of chances, and it builds momentum.”

Adin Hill made 25 saves to get the win, his second since taking over the Coyotes’ net.

“To come in and give us that calmness he’s provided when other teams had chances, he’s done a tremendous job both games he’s started,” forward Christian Fischer said.

Clayton Keller, Richard Panik, Jakob Chychrun, vNick Cousins, Alex Goligoski, and Fischer scored for Arizona.

The Coyotes improved to 12-11-2.

“The guys want to play a fast game, and I thought we did exactly that,” Hill said.

St Louis dropped to 9-13-3; their lone goal in the game from Robert Thomas.

“We’ve got lots of injuries, but we’ve got to play through them,” Blues head coach Craig Berube said. “People have to step up and play better.”

Chad Johnson made 38 saves in the loss.

“We’ve been a pretty good team when we’re ready to go. We get mentally tired, and we’re not playing very well when we’re mentally tired, and that’s got to change. We’ve got to be smarter, play better games when we don’t have the energy and physically we’re not 100 percent,” Berube said after the loss.
