Coyotes end trip with win over Flyers

PHILADELPHIA – The Arizona Coyotes have had problems winning this young season. But Thursday night they found their way to a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Five different Coyotes skaters scored including Martin Hanzal and Brad Richardson who netted goals 1:39 apart in the third period to power Arizona to the win.

Jamie McGinn, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Ryan White also scored for the Coyotes.

“We’ll take the win,” Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said. “We needed a win to end the road trip, so we’ll take the win and go home.”

Louis Domingue made 28 saves in the final game of a six-game road trip.

“I think it’s easy to get off the rails a bit,” White said. “I think in the back of everyone’s mind when they got the second one, we’re all thinking, ‘OK, not again.’ But you’ve got to put it behind you and get back to work.”

The Flyers got goals from Brayden Schenn , Nick Cousins, Andrew MacDonald, and Wayne Simmonds.

The Coyotes broke out to a 2-0 lead early but the Flyers rallied in the second to tie it.

From there, the Coyotes regained their footing and took control of the game.

Steve Mason took the loss on 20 saves.

“We’re starting games and putting ourselves in a hole, and we can’t be doing that. We say it over and over again,” Mason said “I wish I had an explanation why it keeps happening. It’s not the way a hockey team should play in order to win hockey games. Tonight we paid for it and we should have paid for it against Buffalo [on Tuesday] as well.”
