Coyotes damage Kings’ playoff run with 4-3 shootout win

On a night when the Calgary Flames were defeating the Edmonton Oilers, 1-0, the Los Angeles Kings were scrambling and grateful for the loser’s point in a 4-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes.

Alex Goligoski was cr3edited with the game-deciding goal in the win.

Clayton Keller, Nick Cousins and Christian Dvorak struck for regulation goals for Arizona.

“You just go out there and try to produce every night,” Keller said. “I try to do everything I can to help the team win.

The Coyotes are 11-3-2 and a danger for any team with playoff aspirations.

The Kings got two goals from Jeff Carter and a single marker Tanner Pearson .

Arizona improved to 23-35-11.

“I don’t know if anything really flipped the script,” Coyotes assistant coach John MacLean said of the blown lead. “I thought we played really well. I thought guys were jumping. We were putting the puck deep.

“L.A. is a pretty good hockey club and they’re fighting for their lives there. They made a couple plays.”

For Hill, it was his first NHL win after three straight losses.

“It’s exhilarating,” he said. “It’s something you dream of every day growing up as a child. To come here and do it is great. Now I want more.”

Jack Campbell made 26 saves in taking the loss.

“It’s tough to play back-to-back. We weren’t really ready from the start but we started to figure it out after the first period,” Adrian Kempe said aftger the second game in two nights for LA.
