Condors thump Rampage, 7-3

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.  – The Bakersfield Condors (7-8-2-0) registered five third-period goals to defeat the San Antonio Rampage (11-7-1-0) 7-3 on Saturday at Rabobank Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Brad Malone gave the Condors the lead when he registered a shorthanded goal at the 2:15 mark of the second frame. Felix Girard tied the game up for the Silver and Black when he forced a turnover at mid-ice, leading to shorthanded breakaway goal 7:35 into the stanza.

Bakersfield regained the lead at 17:56 when Ty Rattie collected a rebound in front of Rampage netminder Spencer Martin and fired the puck into the back of the net. San Antonio took advantage of a power-play opportunity 61 seconds later when David Warsofksy hit a slap shot from the blue line to tie the game at two.

Patrick Russel gave the Condors a one-goal lead 3:21 into the final frame when he gathered a rebound on a Grayson Downing shot and sent the puck into the net. Zach O’Brien extended the Condors lead at 11:17 when he found a loose puck in front of the Rampage goal and netted his first goal of the season.

Kyle Platzer gave the Condors a 5-2 advantage 13:29 into the third period when he finished a backdoor pass from Rattie. Tage Thompson cut the lead to two at 17:01 when he deflected a puck out of mid-air and into the back of the net.

David Gust added an empty-net goal 18:24 into the final frame, while Russell recorded his second goal of the game in the final 12 seconds as Bakersfield defeated San Antonio 7-3.
