Bakersfield, CA – The Ontario Reign (33-19-10-0) fell to the Bakersfield Condors (31-25-5-1), 4-1, at Rabobank Arena Saturday evening. Forward Joel Lowry scored the lone
goal for the Reign.
The Condors kicked off the scoring on the power play when forward Jesse Puljujarvi blasted a one-time feed past Reign goaltender Jack Campbell (L, 23 saves on 27 shots) at 13:43. The Reign came close to tying the contest with less than a minute to go when Condors netminder Nick Ellis (W, 19 saves on 20 shots) misplayed the puck and left it to forward Sam Herr with a wide open net, but the officials already blew the whistle.
In the second period, the Condors raced out to 3-0 advantage with a pair of quick tallies. Defenseman Mark Fraser completed a 2-on-1 rush at 3:04 followed by a rebound marker from Josh Currie at 4:52. Forward Joel Lowry put the Reign on the scoreboard with his first goal of the season at 6:33 with help from defensemen Cameron Schilling and Matt Roy. For Roy, the assist is his first professional point.
Condors forward Anton Lander completed the game scoring with his 24th goal of the season 10:25 into the third period. The Reign finished the game 0-for-2 on the power play while the Condors went 1-for-1.
