Condors edge San Antonio, 5-4

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The San Antonio Rampage (1-1-0-0) fell 5-4 to the Bakersfield Condors (1-1-0-0) on Thursday night at the Rabobank Arena. Forward Samuel Blais recorded two goals and one assist, while forward Andrew Agozzino tallied one goal and two assists in the contest.

Gabriel Bourque opened the scoring for San Antonio early into the opening frame when he tipped in a pass from Klim Kostin at the 8:04 mark for a 1-0 lead. Condors forward Brad Malone tied the game at one when he slipped a shot past Rampage netminder Ville Husso at 17:12 in the first. The Silver and Black regained the lead with 25 seconds left in the period when Agozzino finished a backdoor pass from Blais.

David Gust tied the game at two when he registered his first of the season after cleaning up a rebounding puck 3:07 into the middle frame. Malone found the back of the net for a second time at 5:03, giving Bakersfield a 3-2 lead. The Condors extended their lead to two at the 11:32 mark as Gust connected on an open shot from the slot. Blais cut the lead to one after skating past Condors goaltender Eddie Pasquale at 17:24 to register his first multiple-point game of the season.

The contest fell scoreless until 15:12 of the third period when Patrick Russell registered a short-handed goal from Malone for a 5-3 lead. San Antonio cut into the lead 92 seconds later thanks to a Blais power-play goal at 16:44, but the Condors held on for a 5-4 victory.
