COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ottawa Senators’ Mike Condon made 42 saves Thursday night in a 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Nineteen of the 42 saves came in the third period and Condon had to hold the fort while the Jackets had a two-man advantage late for 60 seconds.
“What I loved was the players all stood up on the bench and everybody wanted to pull for him and bail him out because he played so well,” Sens head coach Guy Boucher said.
For Condon it was about the play in front of him that got the win.
“A lot of guys were playing under the weather,” he said. “It’s a credit to them for going out there and playing a great Columbus team. We knew it would be a challenge and we came through.”
Kyle Turris and Ryan Dzingel were the Senators’ goal scorers on the night.

Ottawa improved to 24-15-4.
The late 5-on-3 was in part due to Condon firing the puck out of play on a clearing resulting in a delay of game.
“I was trying to make a play, get it down and give the boys a rest. I didn’t roll my wrist over and it went flying. Hopefully I didn’t hit anybody. It was, ‘Yeah, OK. It went over. We’re 5-on-3, let’s kill this.'”Condon said.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves in the loss as the Jackets have now dropped five of their last eight.
“We weren’t awful, but when you’re in your building we need to be harder,” Columbus head coach John Tortorella said.
