Comeback Kids do it again

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Philadelphia Flyers have made it a habit of coming from behind to win games this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins wish the Flyers would break the habit before the end of their playoff series. The “Comeback Kids” did it again Wednesday night coming from a 3-0 deficit to win in overtime 4-3 and take a 1-0 series lead.

Danny Briere came back from injury to score the Flyers first two goals and Brayden Schenn tied the game at 3-3 on the power play to set up Jakub Voracek’s overtime heroics. On Voracek’s goal Matt Carle took the shot from the face-off circle to the right of Pens goal Marc-Andre Fleury. This shot bounced past Kris Letang and to the left of Fleury and over towards Jordan Staal. Voracek beat Staal to the puck and slammed home the rebound and the Flyers officially stole a game from the Penguins.

Sidney Crosby, Tyler Kennedy, and Pascal Dupuis scored for Pittsburgh. The Flyers are now 35-37 in overtime playoff games and 31-36 in Game One’s. The last time the Flyers won in overtime in Pittsburgh was one of the most memorable games in Flyers/Penguins history with the Flyers winning in five overtimes on May 4, 2000. Game Two will be on Friday night in Pittsburgh and will move on to Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.
