Columbus push streak to six

In Columbus, the Blue Jackets picked up another late win when Oliver Bjorkstrand scored his second of the game with less than six left on the clock to drive a 4-3 win over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night.

“You’ve got to finish the job, and I think we did a good job sticking with it tonight,” Bjorkstrand said. “Just found a way to get back in the game every time we got behind and just kept going.”

Elvis Merzlikins made 27 saves in the win.

 

Kyle Connor, Mason Appleton and Neal Pionk scored for the who had a 3-2 lead in the game.

“We came out right. Scoring the first goal was big,” Appleton said. “We played our game. We played a lot of good hockey, but we have a couple of things to clean up in the neutral zone. This one stings.”

The Jets have lost four straight.

“Get the [heck] home and don’t expend 10 more minutes thinking about this game. Recuperate,” Jets coach Paul Maurice said after the game as his parting message to the players.

Seth Jones and Gustav Nyquist had single markers for the Jackets.

Laurent Brossoit made 25 saves in the loss.

“That one is frustrating, obviously a sharp angle like that,” Brossoit said. “I’d like to have that one [back].”
