Columbus blunt Flyers rally, win in OT, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers did what they could to grab a win against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets, Thursday.

But Seth Jones rescued Columbus with his second goal of the game, in overtime, to defeat Philadelphia, 4-3.

The game-winner came just 10 seconds into the extra frame.

“I was going high glove the whole time,” he said. “I wanted to drag it a little bit, get him to move away from that side a little bit. But I really had no other … it was going in high glove or it wasn’t,” Jones said.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves in the win.

Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner scored in regulation for the Blue Jackets who improved to 16-10-2.

Columbus head a 3-1 lead in the third period until Travis Sanheim struck twice, his first goals of the season,  to knot it up at 3-3.

“I think I’ve been getting some chances and getting some looks and the puck just hasn’t been going in the net,” he said. “Nice to see it tonight.”

Claude Giroux gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Philadelphia dropped t0 12-13-3.

Anthony Stolarz made 26 saves in the loss.

“That’s a hard way to lose the extra point. We felt good about battling back and the way we did it in the third period and got our game going. It hurts a little bit to have it end the way it did right off the opening draw,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said after the loss.
