Colton signs 4-year contract with Avalanche

Ross Colton signed a four-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 26-year-old, who was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 28, was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing that was scheduled for July 27. He had 32 points (16 goals, 16 assists) in 81 regular-season games, and four points (one goal, three assists) in six Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Lightning last season.

Selected by Tampa Bay in the fourth round (No. 118) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Colton has 83 points (47 goals, 36 assists) in 190 regular-season games. He also has 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 52 playoff games, including scoring the Cup-clinching goal against the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the 2021 Final.
