Palm Desert, Calif. – The Coachella Valley Firebirds hosted at home for the first time at the newly completed Acrisure Arena, before 10,087 fans, with a 4-3 victory against the Tucson Roadrunners.

Firebirds’ Cameron Hughes had a three-point night, with a goal and a pair of assists in the effort. Jesper Froden, John Hayden and Tye Kartye also scored goals for the Firebirds. The Firebirds had a 3-0 lead at the six-minute mark of the second period, when the Roadrunners began to make their way back in the game.

Roadrunners Jan Jenik scored midway through the second period to get the Roadrunners on the board, and Laurent Dauphin scored late. As the third period began, the Firebirds had a 4-2 lead. Jenik scored the only goal at 18:15, but it would not be enough.
Joey Daccord took the win for the Firebirds in the net, with 15 saves in the game. Jon Gillies had 17 saves in the effort.
