MONTREAL – When the Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings had their famed playoff battles the player who usually did in the Avalanche was Steve Yzerman. Now they may have drafted his clone.
Duchene has been rising with a bullet over the last few weeks and there were a few reports he would go first overall to the New York Islanders. Most scouts rank Duchene as an all-around player and comparisons have been drawn to Hall-Of-Fame center Yzerman by some. For his part Duchene says he patterns his game after Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby.
“I try to be as much like Crosby as I can,” said Duchene. “He does everything so well, whether it’s scoring goals or play making, making his other teammates look good. He does everything the best of probably anyone in the League. He’s a guy I try to be like the most.”
PHN Analysis; Colorado did not have to do anything as far as trading up and they may have wound up with a premier player and the best forward in the draft.
