Glasgow Clan logged their first win in almost a month as they snapped a losing streak with an overtime victory over Fife Flyers at Braehead Arena on Friday night. The Flyers fought back from three down and forced overtime with a last-minute equaliser to deservedly take a point.

Glasgow got off to a perfect start, jumping out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Deven Sideroff and Austin Mitchell-King, who scored his second EIHL goal. Clan carried the play through the opening frame, outshooting Fife 18-10.
“We felt like this was a must-win game for us,” explained Clan defenceman Steven Seigo. “We’ve been on a bit of a skid lately and so this game was a testament to seeing what kind of a group we have in the room. I like the way we came out and how we started.”
The middle period turned into a special-teams battle, with Fife taking a string of penalties before Glasgow extended their lead to 3-0 on a power-play goal from Jason Fram. Momentum then shifted as the Flyers struck twice on the man advantage through Ethan Somoza, before Logan Neilson fired a one-timer past Sami Aittokallio short side to make it a one-goal game by 35:44.
Fife completed the comeback 1:47 into period three through former Clan forward Keaton Jameson. The game stayed tied for under four minutes until Seigo restored the Clan lead with just under 15 minutes to play. Neilson hit the crossbar as the Flyers almost tied the game shorthanded, while Somoza nearly redirected a Giordano Finoro pass past Aittokallio moments later.
“We had some lulls in our game there like we’ve been having in the past few weeks,” admitted Seigo. “But we stuck together, and it showed what kind of a group we have to come out on top in this game.”
The Flyers finally levelled the game with 52 seconds remaining. Jameson won an offensive zone faceoff and Josh Winquist fired the puck past Aittokallio to make it 4-4. Brady Risk almost won it for the Clan in the dying seconds, but Shane Owen held firm.
With the scores tied after 60 minutes, the teams headed to overtime with Clan holding a 54-31 shot advantage. Just 36 seconds into the extra period, an excellent stretch pass from Seigo sent Brett Neumann in alone to beat Owen five-hole and seal the victory for Glasgow.
The teams meet again in Fife on Saturday night. “It’s another must-win game for us. We’ll approach it the same way we did today and want to get a good result,” concluded Seigo.
